The name Henan actually                      originates from two ancient Chinese words, the first one is                      called he which means yellow river, and Nan which in English                      translates to south. The population of Henan is over ninety                      seven million and the population of the capital Zhengzhou                      which is also is the largest city is just a little bit over                      seven million people. The population density in Henan is                      five hundred and eighty two people per square kilometer. The                      providence of Henan is split up into seventeen major                      divisions and after that a hundred and fifteen smaller                      divisions.&lt;br /&gt;                   &lt;br /&gt;                    Henan landscape in the east is very flat and the landscape                      in the west and far west is hilly ad mountainous. Henan’s                      climate is described as a temperate continental and average                      about zero degrees in January and in July the temperature is                      in the high twenty degree Celsius range, and most of the                      rainfall in Henan is takes place in the summer season.                      According to the 2004 statistics Henan has the highest                      population out of all the providences in China.&lt;br /&gt;                   &lt;br /&gt;                    The demographics of Henan consists almost all of people form                      the Han Chinese group and only one percent of the remaining                      population is made up of people from the Hui culture. Henan                      is one of the poorer providences in China but it has shown                      very good optimism considering the fact that its economy has                      grown by at least ten percent every year for the last twenty                      years. Henan is mostly considered as an agricultural                      province:; important crops in Henan include wheat, sesame,                      cotton, rice, and maize. Some other important industries in                      Henan include coal mining and energy production. Henan is a                      major tourist attraction for people looking for some                      cultural enlightening. Henan contains many ancient Chinese                      sites and is a great place to learn about ancient Chinese                      history. One popular ancient site in Henan includes the                      Gaocheng Astronomical observatory used by the people of                      China thousands of years ago.
